Advantages And Disadvantages Of Radiator Covers
While not the most universally popular of items, radiator covers are present in many peoples’ homes and in this article we will look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of having a radiator cover. These covers basically just look like a cabinet and have a mesh like front so as to not completely enclose the heat. For a start, many believe that radiators are bulky and tend to stick out from the rest of the furniture and the room in general. Indeed, they are not the most design friendly of appliances however they are fairly necessary especially during the winter months. A radiator cover can solve this design issue. In fact, radiator covers come in a variety of different designs and styles and can be tailored to suit the rest of your room and, in addition, they are useful for displaying items on the top (such as photographs, souvenirs etc...) so they also have a useful storage option as well. Furthermore, the fact that the mesh is present on the front of the cover means that the hot air will be blown very much in one direction and you can aim it so a certain part of the room is receiving the most heat. Another advantage of covers for radiators is that they prevent anyone (especially small children) from touching the radiator itself and therefore burning themselves in the process.
One of the downsides to covering your radiator however is that it can means that some of the heat from the radiator doesn’t reach the outside of the cover and therefore you are actually losing heat and using more energy to do so. That being said, if your radiator is properly serviced and working to full capacity then it should be much less of a problem and a small incontinence considering the benefits involved.
